blackout track listing

here are the songs that are going to be on blackout:

1. never been good (acoustic version)
2. afford to pretend (the hi-comp version)
3. such good actors (acoustic version)
4. blackout (2 Vanessa mix)
5. the hero and the heroine (acoustic drum loop version)

all of these songs were recorded with just voice and guitar - the hero and the heroine has a super-cool drum loop underpinning the song, and "such good actors" has a cello in the chorus - and that's it folks. all acoustic, all the way.
you can get your digital copy soon (i'll let you know) or you can pre-order a limited edition EP for $10. they will be hand-numbered and signed and based on pre-orders already received, they are expected to sellout. don't wait! if you want the LE EP, send $10 via Paypal to acousticgirl01@hotmail.com or a check or money order to:

It's a good idea to email me and let me know a check is on the way...keeping up with mail from overseas can be a bit dodgy at times. :)
here's to no more power outages (but lots of blackouts),

blackout, little films, leaving home and coming home

greetings earthlings,

i broke out in hives this week. first time for that one. i had to have a shot in my bottom and everything (but i got gelato afterwards, YES!). the good dottore says it was stress-related. I think maybe it is time for me to slow down a little? but not just yet.

hello! i am back in italy. we had SUCH a good time in texas - so many great shows - thank you all so much for coming out, especially the mucky duckers and the revolutioners. you guys made those shows rock. and special thanks to the entire Harris household for the best darned house concert ever.

I finished Blackout! yee-haw! Well, the musical portion....but the art will be along shortly. And Little Films is about 65% finished...I'm offering samples on request only for the moment.

It has been snowing here. Everywhere, in fact. All of Europe, blanketed in snow. It was 75 degrees the day I left Texas. Russia is cutting off gas to Europe and prices are rising and trees are falling and blankets are being tucked tight into the corners of every bed as we all drift off to sleep with snowflakes in our head.

if you have pictures from the texas tour, send them to me, please. and thank you. i have a bunch more to download then upload....a large portion of my day seems to revolve within those two phrases...down, then up load. download, then up.

we're in italy now, but we'll be back in america again in march. carmen sandiego ain't got nothin' on vanessa peters and the ice cream boys.
gelato on a cone kisses,
vanessa

Here's a great shot of Salim Nourallah and Chris Holt, with whom we shared a show on Friday night at Standard and Pours. The Salim and Vanessa show at S&P's is starting to become a much beloved Dallas tradition.... Posted by Picasa

Hanging out at Pete's super-cool Slingerland drum set. Had Gumo been around, he might have had a heart attack upon seeing these babies. Posted by Picasa

Here we are, tuning up the guitars before our first-ever podcast interview. Yee-haw! Posted by Picasa

Here I am at Troubadour Studio, surrounded by guitars too cool and too expensive to mention. Posted by Picasa

start your pods!

We're up! Head to the iTunes music store and search under Podcasts for Troubadour Studio ... we're the latest episode (#4). Go listen and tell us what you think of the new songs!
See you Sunday at the Mucky Duck!

podcasting sucks me in at last

okay, now i get it.
apparently you go to iTunes (which is free to download if you haven't already), and you search for "Troubadour Studio" in your little Podcast directory...or you use this link
http://www.webpasties.com/podcast-3854-248.xml
though I don't know how.
The podcast is free to subscribe to. That sentence is grammatically incorrect but I am not sure how to fix it. I am very tired.

We played last night in McGregor, about 15 minutes west of Waco. The venue, Texas Tea and Coffee, was charming and the audience was super attentive - kudos to the Collinses (also members of the band Deadman) for putting together such a great venue. The bonus was that they invited us upstairs to their AMAZING studio to do an interview (hence the podcast to which you are going to subscribe). Their studio is chock full of unbelievable gear....Slingerland drums, Les Paul guitars, Hammond organs, gargantuan red velvet couches...the room is unbelievably beautiful and homey. Manuel had to close his mouth after five minutes of drooling on the floor.

We played 3 songs, two of which will be on Little Films....go check out the podcast and tell us what you think!! It will be up by the end of next week.

We got home at 3 am. I am going back to bed. Take care and sleepy little kisses,
Vanessa

deep breath, forge ahead

thoughts that i would like to recap:
1. shows
2. salim
3. chains (stores, and bondage)
4. new albums (see #2)

happy new year to you all! i hope that 2006 is off to a great start. we have seen 2006 from the car window, and from behind a microphone, both in a studio and on stage. we rang in the new year at lawrence's house (great party), and i sang auld lang syne (sort of), and promptly realized why we all sing "hmm hmm hmm auld lang syne..." The words to that song are a trip.

shows have been going great. we had a fantastic time last night at standard and pours in dallas - you should have been there, because the rest of dallas was. it was packed. good times - and they did a webcast, and probably it is archived somewhere...check out pirate radio network and look for standard and pours. or their myspace site. who knows what you'll find.

we've been recording with salim and i am chomping at the bit to put new songs up on the site. i can't really, or shouldn't, because they are all unmixed...we don't have our bass recorded yet, or much electric guitar, and the levels are still wacky, but everything sounds amazing. it has been such fun to record with salim, because he is a very calming presence in the studio - and i need more calming presences in my life. anyhow, we'll probably set up a dummy myspace page with some of the songs....i'll release the address soon.

as we were driving down I-45 in Houston the other day, between Spring and downtown, Manuel said something really funny...in Italian he said that if you try to open a restaurant here, "ti spaccano il culo," which basically means they kick your arse. he was referring to the fact that, at least from what you can see from the highways, it's mcdonald's or whataburger or kfc or god knows what else, but it sure as heck isn't mom and pop's country fried steak, at least not until you get to nowhereville, texas, and even there the giants are invading. it was a funny but sad observation.

the new cds will be released in some order in 2006, but i am not sure yet how/when. blackout, the EP, is almost finished....just one song remains to be recorded. little films is going swimmingly, as mentioned before. i will soon be sending out my "please help us, dear goodness" email, in which i plead once more for support from those who love our music. since we have an outside producer this time around, recording costs are, while low by industry standards, high by any other.

lastly! award nominations for the My Texas Music are being taken at the link below. Categories in which you could vote for us would be:
song of the year
female vocalist of the year
album of the year
singer/songwriter of the year

the link is here - you can ONLY VOTE ONCE. :) double voting will be disqualified.
