Here's a map of where I'll be in Italy. Click on the map to make it larger. If you look on the north, on the left-hand side, you'll see Castiglion Fiorentino, where I used to live. Head east just a few inches and you'll see Citta di Castello, which is very close to where I'll be this time around. Posted by Hello

Deja Vu

Hello all,
I can't find the darling little accent to place over the "u" Vu. Deja vu just doesn't look right without it. Never mind that though. There is much else to discuss and little time to do so...

So as many of you know, my life is careening off into a wild new direction, a brave new world, etc. I am leaving for Italy on June 1st and I will return on September 14. I sent my guitar ahead of me today, so I'd appreciate prayers for her safe travel. While I'm abroad this summer, I'm planning to play shows in Italy, London, and possibly Stuttgart, Germany if everything works out. Even if none of them pan out, I can assure you I will be keeping busy, splitting my time equally between coffee, gelato, small children, and much songwriting. Think of me as a modern cross between Mary Poppins and Maria Von Trapp, if you will. I'm actually going to be an aupair, and I will be working here as well: http://www.palazzoterranova.com

As for the fall. My current plan is to conquer the Southeast, Northeast, and MiddleEast (?) between September 15th and Thanksgiving. Don't know how much of that will come to fruition, but so far I have dates booked in Dallas, Austin, Houston, Lake Charles, New Orleans, Cincinnati, Dayton OH, and Louisville KY, so that's a start. I expect NYC and Chapel Hill to follow shortly, so tune in throughout the summer to my webpage to check and see if shows have been added in your area. Likewise, if you have a great venue to suggest or ESPECIALLY if you or someone else would like to host a house concert in your city, please let me know! That is my favorite kind of show to play. Please give this some thought and if it sounds entertaining to you, let me know and I'll give you all the details. You can check out http://www.houseconcerts.com if you want to know more about the idea. You can also support the tour by convincing your friends they NEED a copy of Sparkler, or another if they have one already. This tour will be a stretch, finally speaking, and every CD sale helps.

So between now and then, or at least until the end of the week, you can keep yourself busy toodling around the NEWLY overhauled http://www.vanessapeters.net. Eric has gone to great lengths to tidy the site, change out photos, and terribly importantly, upload new MP3s and their accompanying words. And best of all, there's finally a guestbook! So please! Don't make me beg! Go post some lovely things about the new site and how you can't wait for the new album! It will make Eric and I SO happy if you do. And as always, if you have comments or suggestions or corrections, you can email those to Eric at webmaster@vanessapeters.net. Let him know if links are broken, songs don't play, etc.

I'm sorry to ramble on but I had tons to tell you before I go. I have an Italian email address if you need to get in contact with me - it's a fresh, unfettered, uncluttered Hotmail account (mainly because they closed it and I lost all my emails, the freaks), so please send your emails there, because my other accounts are full-to-bursting. That address is pannacottagelato@hotmail.com.

I suppose that's all for now! I intend to publish updates throughout the summer, and I hope to add pictures as well, so please check back as often as you can to keep up and keep in touch. Hope you enjoy the new site and MP3s - don't be a stranger.
love and lots of happy wishes for a lovely summer,
vanessa
